Welcome To Nurture

our beautiful Yoga & Therapy Centre in the heart of Saddleworth

Here at Nurture, we believe in an integrated approach to health and well-being

and so promote the importance of caring for mind, body and the earth.

We hold one belief above any other, that we are all intrinsically connected to every other living part of this planet. We all form a unique part of this incredible ecosystem and if we humans care for ourselves and each other, we can help to create a culture that encourages all of us to care for and respect the earth, our home!

At the core of everything we share, is a hope that we can inspire everybody who crosses our threshold to feel good about themselves and to leave with a knowledge that you have joined a supportive community, committed to creating a better future through caring for ourselves and our planet.

We have carefully crafted a variety of yoga classes, open to everybody and designed to appeal to all tastes and abilities. Our complementary health services are also carefully chosen to meet the needs of mind and body whilst ensuring professional, accessible and ethical care.

We have done our best to create Nurture using non-toxic, re-cycled or sustainable materials where possible. We have a no single use plastic policy and help to preserve our local landscape via our MindfulWild Project.

We look forward to welcoming you to Nurture and hope you’ll find what you’re looking for!

What People Say

“I came to see Shelagh because of terrible lower back and pelvic pain that meant i could no longer straighten up without bending my knees and had got to the point where I could no longer exercise. Even after my first treatment the improvement was amazing and after a few sessions I had more mobility and flexibility then I had had for years. I would recommend Chiropractic to anyone as it has mad such a massive difference for me and the things I can now do.”

Karen Sharma

“Saddleworth has needed a studio like this for years! No detail has been compromised; it’s such a gorgeous and spacious place to practice yoga! Sophie and Shelagh are talented, uplifting women who make the studio even more of a happy place to be in.”

Jessica Lomax

“The most beautiful, serene space. You can feel the love, care and positive energy that has gone into creating such a calming and nourishing atmosphere. So happy and grateful to have a yoga studio like this in Saddleworth. All the love and good luck in the world”

Amelia Lee

“Yoga with Sophie has changed my life. Combining physical exercise with mental relaxation and love for yourself. It is addictive. Thank you Sophie.”

Gaynor O’Ryan

“Sophie is a wonderful teacher with a beautiful way of teaching yoga her classes are both enjoyable and inspirational. ”

Bev Shepherd

“Shelagh gives us a perfect start to the week with her calm, mindful persona. She’s always aware of each one of us and any specific issues there may be within the group, circulating to provide support and advice. Her classes are always well structured and prepared and she teaches us to develop our breathing to calm our mind and raise body awareness to prepare us for our special ‘time out’.”

Jane Ingleby

“Shelagh was my amazing yoga teacher for almost 2 years when she first qualified, and we really miss her classes. She is a fun and very caring person, and that is reflected in the way she teaches. The studio in Saddleworth looks like a lovely place to practice yoga, just wish I lived nearer!”

Bev Carroll

“In July 2017, I was suffering with severe joint pain in knees and back. At 62, I was walking with a stick and felt old, weary and worn out with pain. I was told that I needed both knees replacing and was on the waiting list for these operations. An old friend recommended I see a McTimoney chiropractor and thankfully, I found Shelagh. The results have been amazing. I have thrown away the walking stick, been able to stop taking Naproxen painkillers and have cancelled the knee replacement operations. Thank you so much, I now feel 53 instead of 73 and recommend treatment by a McTimoney chiropractor to all my friends with joint and back issues.”

Movement is medicine virtual retreat Sunday 7th June with @sophiefitton_yoga
.
The word movement is so profound as it has no implications, no labels, no right or wrong, no can I, cant I?.
There is this ready sense of freedom that is associated with this word. It is the true exploration of your own body, your own self. To trust that you have the tools within to take the return journey home. A trust in your body that it knows the way.
.
Movement is medicine is a virtual retreat that invites you to be completely yourself with no restrictions on how you should or shouldnt move, or how you should or shouldnt feel.
.
I invite you to take a healing journey with me where there will be no confinement, no judgment, just a knowledge that everything you feel is valid and you are valid.
.
A real chance to take an adventure inwards.
.
Day plan:
- We will start with a guided meditation.
- Then be guided into an asana/ free movement practice with no labels that will evoke natural free flowing movement and will be unique to you and your body.
- Journalling/ self reflection
- Satsang, time to connect with yourself & others.
.
Sunday 7th of June 10-12.30am

Happy earth day 🌎

We are lucky enough to call this beautiful planet our home, lets protect mother earth & care for her however we can ✨
Below is a list of 10 things we can all do to be more conscious of our actions towards our home.

1. Use shampoo & conditioner bars rather than buying plastic bottles, or take your bottles and get them filled. @reclamationroom & @mccallsorganics are two amazing places where you can refill your empty containers. @lifebeforeplastik also have amazing products all with no plastic packaging.

2. Fly less or not at all. Discovery the beauty of where you live.

3. Volunteer for your local wildlife or nature reserve. @rspb_love_nature is an amazing charity to volunteer for, their volunteering tasks allow you to be apart of large scale nature conservation.

4. Buy your fruit and vegetables without or with as little plastic packaging as possible, or if you have the space, or the time start to grow some of your own food.

5. Walk, cycle or run when you can rather than getting in your car.

6. Buy your clothes/ yoga gear, second hand or from ethical brands. Some amazing ethical brands are @pukawear @organicbasics @girlfriend

7. Try to shop for your fruit & veg seasonally & locally. @thegreenvalleygrocer @alimentari_di_alberti_ have super tasty fruit and veg.

8. Make space for nature in your garden (if you have one) plant native pollinator and insect friendly plants.

9. Buy a refillable water bottle.

10. Get educated. Take time to learn what is happening to the environment & how everything we do makes an impact. @patagoniamanchester always show incredible, short independent films highlighting key environmental issues. They also have an initiative called Patagonia action works that links people to local projects related to climate change.
