Art in Nature: Expressive Drawing with Emily Seville

  • Nurture Saddleworth 23 Sam Road, Diggle Oldham United Kingdom (map)

Connect to the local natural landscape while exploring your creativity in this Expressive Drawing workshop with Emily Seville Studio.

Spend the afternoon getting creative in nature exploring expressive and observational drawing. In this workshop Emily combines teaching technique with activities that encourage an intuitive approach to drawing. Surround and ground yourself in the natural landscape and learn to draw from your experience of the environment.

Both being out in nature and getting creative can have a positive impact on our mental wellbeing. Explore the benefits of outdoor drawing in a supportive and nurturing group environment. You will learn about mark-making, shading and perspective in addition to trying exercises such as blind drawing.

Emily follows a therapeutic approach in her workshops meanings emphasis is placed on process and intuitively making rather than on technique and outcome. This makes her workshops an open and pressure-free space perfect for beginners and those who want to explore and experiment with their creativity.

All materials, including drawing tools, paper, and boards, will be provided – you are welcome to bring your own sketchbook and drawing tools if you would prefer.

T&C: Cancellation can be made up to 24 hours before the workshop (this is due to the preparation of materials for each participant)

Who’s leading your workshop?

“Working with clay, I feel a physical, emotional and spiritual connection to the earth. Use of clay in my practice nurtures an intimate relationship with the earth - connecting to the physical material and the knowledge and stories held within it.”

Emily Seville is Manchester based visual artist and meditation practitioner specialising in hand-built sculptural ceramics and watercolour painting. As both a practitioner and facilitator, her focus is on the connection between nature and wellbeing. Through her practice and workshops, she employs a meditative, slow-making process and encourages an intuitive approach to making.
