The class is suitable for the complete beginner to intermediate as I will be offering different levels for each exercise. No equipment is required apart from a mat however if you do have a cushion or rolled up towel (or a small Pilates/fitness ball) I will also demonstrate how these can assist you in your practise. HATHA YOGA with Shelagh covered by Janet: Tuesday 7PM

Hatha is the foundation stone of yoga – union of mind, body and breath. It guides us gently deeper into ourselves, towards our true nature to find balance and embrace our connection to all of life.  Slow, passive movement rising to meditative sequences and steady, progressive postures blended with soothing breathing and meditation practices guide you to stillness in motion. Ancient wisdom blended with the wonders of nature create a sense of connection to your own true spirit, the natural world and the incredible healing powers of yoga for mind & body – food for the soul!

‘You have two homes, your body and the earth – care for them both’

Suitable for everybody.

ASHTANGA with Jay: Wednesday 7.30PM

Ashtanga Yoga is an active flow that helps to increase strength, flexibility and stamina. Ashtanga is different to many other yoga classes in the West in that there is a predefined series of postures. The practice consists of an opening, a standing, a back bending, an inversion and a finishing sequence. Depending on the length of the class and the teacher, these sequences may vary each class, but all come from the traditional Ashtanga Series. During this class you will be guided through the traditional Ashtanga Primary Series, with adaptations and modifications to suit all body types and abilities. The Primary Series is the most important series as it forms the basis of the entire system. Although the classes may become repetitive, you can see and feel results very quickly. Combining the sequence with the traditional breath work, (pranayama), you create a cleansing practice that will help to detoxify your whole being. Each class begins and finishes with a meditation in Savasana to focus your intentions and appreciate the work that you have put in.

KUNDALINI with Jay: Thursday 8AM

Kundalini Class Kundalini yoga is an energising, elevating and transformative style of yoga that uses postures (asanas), meditation, breath work (pranayama), chants or mantras, energy locks (bandhas), and hand gestures (mudras) to achieve full body awareness and purification. The word Kundalini directly translates to “coiled one” and refers to the spiritual energy located at the base of the spine, coiled like a snake, waiting to be released. Unlocking this energy is one of the main focuses of Kundalini Yoga. Once someone has activated this energy, they go through what is known as a “Kundalini Awakening,” a form of spiritual enlightenment that is said to elicit a heightened sense of empathy and deeper levels of consciousness. Kundalini Yoga is a great way for anyone to get out of their heads and into their bodies. Using multiple methods like meditation, energy healing and mantras, you will release stress and trauma from your being in order to achieve internal bliss. During a Kundalini class you will be guided to perform postures and actions called kriyas in order to clear your energy, activate your chakras, release negative thought patterns, and elevate your personal spiritual practice.
